Everything we look to hear about Skyrim involves ontogenesis. Bigger maps, better graphics, substantive NPC relationships, player housing, dragons that ascendancy time and swallow planets, you know, the standard stuff. For Bethesda, focusing on scurf and growth is nothing new. The success of The Elder Scrolls has been stacked upon the backs of ginormous games famous for including things like huge tracts of land and shifting architectural styles. These aspects make for some impressive immersion, but including them comes with a price: Information, and heaps of information technology. Overly much information can, of course, lead to multiple gritty discs (see L.A. Noire earlier this year), yet somehow, perhaps aside sacrificing few mud crabs to a Daedric prince, Bethesda has seemingly unheeded the laws of physics and managed to fit wholly of Skyrim onto uncomparable, count it, one DVD.
Now, before you puzzle all "this is how they did IT with hi-tech data compression" on everyone in the forums, wonk, let's fitting take a moment to breathe in the sweet, odorous scen of being able to place good unmatchable disc into our Xbox 360s and never need to leave our couches for anything other than fridge-runs and bathroom-breaks for sixty hours straight. Get a good sniff out? Okay, onto the tech.
According to a previously leaked half-hour Skyrim walkthrough picture, developers claimed they were able to handle the majority of Skyrim's environment utilizing "high-powered personal effects." Essentially, what this means is that whenever the insolate sets during a rainstorm, allowing your argonian lamia to still hunt the poor of Dawnstar, the halt applies these filters happening the vanish to already-produced textures as opposed to having the need for a second texture set for from each one discipline (i.e. an argonian texture, a wet argonian texture, and a wet argonian in the dark texture are complete simply "an argonian" with different filters that can apply to all other textures atomic number 3 well). Acknowledged, Carofano isn't marketing Oregon Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, so perhaps it's too soon to call this statement official.
